they say the funniest things

Coe

Coe and I were doing I (point to your eye) love (point to your heart) you (point to the other person). He did it to me and I did it back but added in too (hold up two fingers). He then very nonchalantly asked how old I was. I said 34. He said I (pointed to his eye) love (pointed to his heart) you (pointed to me) thirty four.I'm still laughing!

Mac

Overheard Mac and a friend talking in the car:  My dad works at Andrews.  He is a physical therapy (therapist).  He works on spines.  That is your back, so if I break my back I don’t even have to go to a Dr.  I just see my dad and he fixes it.  My mom is just a lawyer, but I did get to meet her Judge.

(Obviously daddy wins the cool job award!)

Conversation over dinner

Mac: Mommy, Coe loves you the most and I love daddy the most

Me (very perplexed): Well we love you and Coe the same.  Don’t you think you should love us the same?

Mac:  You know Copey always wants you to rock him before bed, and I get dad.

Me:  That doesn’t mean Copey loves me more than daddy.  He just needs me at night.

Mac: Coe do you love mommy the most?

Coe: Yep!

Mac: See mom, he love you and I love dad.

(Later in the evening)

Me: Mac, it kind of hurts my feelings that you love daddy more than me.  I love you and Coe the same.

Mac: Mom, Coe loves you the most and daddy has to have somebody to love him so he gets me.  But don’t worry I still love you.  I just love daddy the most.

Easter cookies and a new bed

I have been working a lot of hours lately preparing for trial, so I have tried to make the limited time I’ve had with the boys extra fun (otherwise explained as mom guilt!).  Last Saturday I ran to the grocery store in the late afternoon and somehow came home with stuff to make Easter cookies.  The boys were ecstatic and took their jobs very seriously – especially the decorating part.  To say Copeland liked using the sprinkles was an understatement.  The only thing he liked more than using the sprinkles was licking them off his cookie so he could add some more.

While the boys and I made cookies, Daddy converted the baby bed to a toddler bed.  I wondered how Copeland would respond because he LOVES his baby bed.  We have been talking about Coe getting a “big boy bed” for a few weeks, and this was the first transition step.  Copeland was thrilled with his bed!  He has always laid in his bed after waking up and played quietly.  He takes a long time to fully wake up and needs that quiet time rolling around in bed and snuggling his Bs.  I wondered with his new freedom if this trend would end?  After sleeping in the bed for a week now I can confirm that he still lays in bed and takes his time waking up.  Even better he won’t get out of the bed until someone comes in there to get him.  He quietly plays and eventually calls my name if I haven’t come in there already.  Big difference from big brother who wakes up talking (non-stop) and ready to start the day!

Like Father Like Son

They adore him.  They idolize him.  They want to be just like him.  These apples didn’t fall far from the tree.  And for that I am thankful!

Put me in Coach

T-ball has begun.  What can I say?  Mac LOVES it.  Of course he is extremely overly confident and has told Albi and I on more than one occasion that he is “a great hitter” and “the best hitter on the team”.  {Confidence is not low on the Raymon side!}

Mac got out his first at bat, but he had no idea what was going on and his coach had to practically pull him off 1st base.  After that he got in his groove, and the Coach said after the game that Mac had the best hit of the game.  That is all he needed to swell his head even bigger!  The Cardinals didn’t quite grasp the concept of fielding the ball and generally about 7 of them would run to any ball hit onto the field.  They would then all roll in the orange dirt scrambling for the ball until one of them would come up from the pile with it only to look around not knowing what to do next or where to throw the ball.  It was quite amusing, but they didn’t mind at all.

The teams turn batting was only slightly better than their fielding.  Most could hit the ball off the tee, but few knew when to run or even where to run after 1st base.  We would often have two players on the same base b/c someone forgot to advance a base.  And more than one player skipped home and ran from 3rd base straight to the dugout with a huge smile on their face as the crowd cheered to go back and touch home.

I saw nothing but smiles all morning despite the kids not really knowing what was going on half the game.  In their defense we had so much rain  that they only practiced twice before the first game.  I’m confident we will see a big improvement at this week’s game, and if not…oh well its just t-ball.  Like Mac told me, “You don’t win or lose until you do Coach Pitch.  In t-ball everyone ties!”     IMG_7308 IMG_7310ps IMG_7314 IMG_7315 IMG_7316 IMG_7318 IMG_7322 IMG_7324 IMG_7335 IMG_7337

Spring Break 2014 – Disney Cruise Part 2

Although we didn’t get off the boat when it stopped in Nassau, we were one of the first families off at Castaway Cay – Disney’s private island.  It was extremely windy the day we were there but we made the best of it and enjoyed the time on the beach, playing in the water and taking a few pictures with our favorite characters in their beach gear!  In true Disney fashion no detail was forgotten, and the Island was perfectly set up for families with kids of all ages.

In the early afternoon the dark clouds rolled in and the threat of rain was obvious.  We (and everyone else on the island) ran to get back on the boat and before we knew it the boys were in their bed taking a much needed nap before pirate night began!

These light up swords were a huge hit at the beach and later on during pirate night.  I bought them prior to going on the trip for super cheap, and I got what I paid for.  They lasted less than 24 hours (I’m sure the sand in them didn’t add to their longevity), but they worked for the pirate festivities which is all that mattered.

Snorkeling is harder than it looks!

Pirate night on the boat is a big deal.  Almost everyone dresses up (even the adults) and some people really go all out.  The boys LOVED being pirates and participating in all the activities.  They even chose to skip the show that evening (it was a magic show and although super cool I figured it might not hold their attention for a full hour) and go to  the pirate activities in the Oceaneers Club.  After the adults went to the magic show we picked up our pirates and headed to see Mickey for a quick picture and then the pool deck for Mickey’s live pirate show.  Needless to say the boys loved it.  Then it was off to dinner followed by Captain Sparrow’s pirate show and fireworks!  It was a late night and everyone fell into their beds when we finally got back to the room.

The last day was a day at sea. We tried to do everything “one last time” and Coe cried when we told him he had to say bye bye to “Memo”.  After a full day of swimming, eating and playing in the Oceaneers Club, G and I took the boys to play Goofy golf on the top deck.  We watched the final show at the theatre, took our last pictures with Mickey and the gang and ate our last dinner with our fine wait staff.  The boys each picked out 2 souvenirs from the gift shop (pirate swords and telescopes!) and we headed back to the room for our last night in the bunk beds.  We were all sad to leave the next day, but we will definitely be back.

Its now been two weeks and Coe still asks about every other day if we can go back to the Disney cruise to see memo and ride the yellow slide.  He even told me that he had money in his piggy bank to pay for the trip!  If his $1.75 would cover the trip I would take him tomorrow.  We will be back though.  That’s a promise!
