4th of July

I did a really bad job taking pictures this 4th of July.  If I was going to tell the truth, I would admit that my camera fell out of my bag and hit the concrete a few weeks ago and the focus has been a little off ever since then, but there is really no need to admit that right now :)  Let’s just say the camera company didn’t charge nearly as much as I thought they might to fix it!  {I hope to have my new and improved lens back any day now}For 4th of July though I had the {kind of broken} lens that caused quite a few of my pictures to look a little blurry.  It didn’t help that the kids weren’t really into sitting perfectly still and smiling.  All that being said we had a great staycation at Yaya and Costie’s.  Its either our 2nd or 3rd 4th of July staycation with them, so I guess we can officially call it a tradition.

The weekend started with my 3 favorite {almost} 3 and 4 year olds having a play date that included making their own pizza lunch.  I promised before I realized I had no mozzarella cheeses – cheddar works just fine when you are a kid!  Then we headed to Yaya’s for the weekend and to begin our first ever games competition set up by Mac.  He woke Yaya up at 5:30a ready to set the big den up for game day!  As the rest of us stumbled blurry eyed out of our rooms, he immediately roped us into playing a game.   We received points depending on what place we got in the game, and he and Yaya kept track of the points on a big chart they had made.  Uno turned out to be the weekend favorite as lots of people could play including the little kids!  Prizes {candy and money} were given out at the end of the weekend.  As you can see from the picture, they were more than a little happy with their rewards!

W tried to keep the cooking to a minimum so we could enjoy our time and not be stuck in the kitchen.  The first night we had dinner at PYC and on the 4th we ate dinner at PCC.  We made a big lunch on the 4th though and ate all the leftovers on Sunday.  Everything was delicious!  The kids swam until they were turning into prunes and they had a blast running around the golf course on the evening of the 4th and watching fireworks over the water.  Another successful holiday in the books!

Backyard Fun

The weekend before the 4th we had the Phillips kids over to play so the new mommy and daddy could run some errands with baby Mallie.  After playing inside for a bit, the kids were begging to put on bathing suits and play with the water toys.  Aunt Abbie gave Mac this really cool slip n slide baseball set that was a big hit!  Then we moved on to the double racer slip n slide which allowed form some great photo opps.

While the kids were playing and I was taking pictures, daddy was busy playing with his new toy – a water pressure.  The fence behind the kids in all the pictures now looks like brand new boards thanks to hours and hours of work by daddy.  Later that evening after the Phillips had left, Mac finally lost his 2nd top tooth which had barely been handing on for days.  That makes for two top teeth gone in 1 week.  My little boy looks {and sounds} totally different now that he is toothless!

Portofino

Father’s Day weekend Uncle Shaw, Aunt Heather, Mad and Mal stayed at Portofino for an impromptu mini beach vacation.  G and Deeda also came in town.  We all headed to Portofino to hang out on Saturday and Sunday.  The boys had a great time with all the family, but especially their cousins!

We ran into Mr. Brett and Ms. Maria at the Portofino pool and Mr. Brett was a quick favorite as he tossed the boys and then started a chicken fight!  The highlight of the weekend though was the nightly crab hunting.  The boys LOVED searching for crabs and were only a little sad that we had to let them all go before heading back up to the condo {no way was I taking all those crabs home.  Picky is more than enough!}.
