Baseball 2016 deserved a post of it’s own. Once again Mac played for the LP Flyers but other than him and Jack P, the team was all new. Mac earned a position playing 3rd base and was one of the top batters on the team. He regularly batted 3, 4 or 5 except that game or two where Coach Daddy moved him down in the line up to teach him some life lessons! To say Mac loved playing baseball would be an understatement. The Flyers were not very good {I think we won 3 games the whole regular season}, but the group of boys on the team were great. Mac made new friends, learned baseball fundamentals, and played his heart out.
The Flyers were the bottom seed at the end of the season tournament, but they want on to win 2nd place in the Coach Pitch division. It was such a fun tournament weekend watching the boys finally see their hard work pay off. Coach daddy was the pitcher for the end of the season tournament and mommy was a nervous wreck every time daddy pitched to Mac! They won several games and even beat the number 1 seed in the tournament but ended up losing the final game to the number 2 seed. Despite a lot of practices and late week night games, the regular season of coach pitch baseball was a huge hit in the Gilmer family. There is no way we will be able to keep Coe off the baseball diamond next year!
