I think the boys had as much fun on their vacation as we did on ours. I know that we missed them way more than they missed us! The boys spent the first half of the week with Yaya and Coste and the 2nd half of the week with G and Deeda. Then after we got home Gigi came to spend the night because I had a one day out of town work trip.
Mac and Copeland were super excited to see their suitcases by the front door on Friday morning. Mac packed both of them a bag of toys, and Yaya picked them up after school. Yaya and Coste took the boys to the zoo with their “god cousins” on Saturday. I think all the boys had a GREAT time at the zoo and the parents/grandparents were equally as worn out! When I talked to Mac that night he said, “I had the best day ever!” That warmed my heart and made being away from them a little easier.
G and Deeda came on Monday and unfortunately both the boys had developed really bad coughs. Actually Mac had had a bad cough for 5 weeks but Coe’s was new. Mac also had a low grade fever, so I called the Dr and got him an appt for Tues to have it checked out. Why do kids always get sick when the parents are out of town?!?! Thankfully the Dr said minor chest infection, gave a Rx and Mac was much better by the time we got home. Neither of the boys, especially Mac, slept well for G and Deeda due to their coughs, and poor G sounded worn out when we talked to her!
I’m sure Deeda was too busy working on his “honey do” list to help G much with the kids : ) Before you judge me for leaving my father in law a honey do list, you have to know Deeda. He gets bored when he has nothing to do, and he loves a project. I was very specific in my note to him that these were projects that we needed done around the house, but were by no means urgent and Albi would do all when we returned so no pressure. Secretly I think Deeda was glad I left the list so he had an excuse not to help G as much. I’m sure G is thinking I better never leave a list again. Sorry!!!
G didn’t have time to get many pics of the boys during her stay, but she did have some stories to share with me.
After hearing Mac talking in the playroom while Copeland was napping she stuck her head in to see who he was talking too. Mac’s response, “Don’t worry G I’m just talking to myself. I do that sometimes.” (Crazy or genius? Jury is still out!)
Deeda started to get onto Mac on at least two different occasions. According to Deeda he failed both times because Mac quickly started complimenting him and saying things like, “Deeda I love when you come visit. You are so fun. You did a great job getting that toy from under the stove. Way to go Deeda!” Maybe the Q above crazy or genius? has been answered!
Apparently every time Copeland saw Deeda he would ask, “What ya doing Deeda?” often asking the question numerous times in a 5min period. Its pretty hard to get annoyed though with his sweet little voice.
Overall the boys had a great vacation, and I think their grandparents enjoyed it too!
