My favorite baby boy

I had to take a break from the injury/ski trip posts!

Copeland cracks me up lately.  Every day we see more and more how his own little big personality is developing.  He is definitely our “lover boy.”  He cuddles, snuggles, loves being rocked, and just recently started saying, “Luv you too!”  When his little voice tells me he loves me, it melts my heart.  When he wakes up earlier than usual or wants to delay at bedtime he always requests to “snuggle mommy bed.”  Prior to knee surgery it was very hard to deny that request, so we had quite a few snuggle minutes.

Lately he has started calling Mac, Mackey, which I love too.  I constantly here, “where Mackey?”  “Mackey, pay cars with me?” “MACKEY!”  He also often refers to himself in 3rd person – very cute now but better not last forever!  Nothing more annoying than an adult who refers to himself in 3rd person.

I think Copeland talks as much as Mac did at this age but he doesn’t enunciate quite as well.  Mac spoke clearly and had an advanced vocabulary at a very young age.  Coe has more typical “toddler speech” but he sure does use it often, and it has gotten increasingly louder!

As sweet as Copeland is most of the time, he definitely developed a little defiance in his personality.  The twos are here, but I’m convinced they won’t be terrible (the power of positive thinking!).  His first response to most questions is “NO.”  He will purse his lips and slant his eyes when he says it, and I have to do my best to stifle a smile because he is so darn cute when he does that. The biggest difference I see in him and Mac at this point though is the temper.  Copeland really doesn’t have one where that red headed temper spunk was already very obvious by the time Mac was two!  Copeland can be defiant, but he doesn’t get mad.  That’s not to say he listens to what you tell him either.  He just chooses to ignore us at times whereas Mac would throw a fit.  Right now I would say their personalities fall very much in line with typical first born and second born children.

A few of Coe’s milestones for posterity sake:

  • Knows all his ABCs
  • Can count to 10 sometimes
  • Can slam a golf ball across the yard
  • Recognizes most numbers up to 10
  • Learning his colors – knows blue and red

Comparisons between the boys

  • Mac is cautions; Coe knows no fear
  • Mac is pretty OCD about certain things; Coe is very laid back about almost everything
  • Mac idolizes his daddy; Coe is a mommy’s boy
  • Mac can’t stand for his hands to be sticky or dirty; for Coe the dirtier the better
  • Mac loves animals; Coe loves cars
  • Both boys
    • can’t sleep without their Bs
    • talk A LOT
    • love hitting golf balls with daddy
    • are loud
    • are all boy
    • love each other!
