Several months ago Yaya decided that she wanted to rent a beach house in the fall and have a long family weekend on the beach. We settled on the first weekend in November because Mac had that Monday off school, it was a good football weekend (AL vs. LSU), and the weather is generally cool but not miserable that time of year. The weekend turned out to be everything we hoped for and then some. The house was the perfect size for our family of 8 adults (Nana and Granddaddy joined us) and 3 young children. And added plus was the location – directly on the beach! There was actually a large sand dune between our house and the water which provided the boys with the perfect play area where they could play without me worrying about them getting to close to the water. Mac reenacted the dessert and tundra scenes from Star Wars, and Copeland followed along right behind him. We cooked good food, cheered the Tide on to victory against LSU and enjoyed hours outside on the beach and the back porches.
I really hope we can make this an annual trip. The weekend was truly enjoyed by everyone young and old.
*The green snake seen in several pictures is Snakey, Mac’s class mascot. Mac was in charge of him the weekend of the beach trip. We had to photograph Snakey’s activities all weekend. He was a huge hit with the family!
