I did a really bad job taking pictures this 4th of July. If I was going to tell the truth, I would admit that my camera fell out of my bag and hit the concrete a few weeks ago and the focus has been a little off ever since then, but there is really no need to admit that right now :) Let’s just say the camera company didn’t charge nearly as much as I thought they might to fix it! {I hope to have my new and improved lens back any day now}For 4th of July though I had the {kind of broken} lens that caused quite a few of my pictures to look a little blurry. It didn’t help that the kids weren’t really into sitting perfectly still and smiling. All that being said we had a great staycation at Yaya and Costie’s. Its either our 2nd or 3rd 4th of July staycation with them, so I guess we can officially call it a tradition.
The weekend started with my 3 favorite {almost} 3 and 4 year olds having a play date that included making their own pizza lunch. I promised before I realized I had no mozzarella cheeses – cheddar works just fine when you are a kid! Then we headed to Yaya’s for the weekend and to begin our first ever games competition set up by Mac. He woke Yaya up at 5:30a ready to set the big den up for game day! As the rest of us stumbled blurry eyed out of our rooms, he immediately roped us into playing a game. We received points depending on what place we got in the game, and he and Yaya kept track of the points on a big chart they had made. Uno turned out to be the weekend favorite as lots of people could play including the little kids! Prizes {candy and money} were given out at the end of the weekend. As you can see from the picture, they were more than a little happy with their rewards!
W tried to keep the cooking to a minimum so we could enjoy our time and not be stuck in the kitchen. The first night we had dinner at PYC and on the 4th we ate dinner at PCC. We made a big lunch on the 4th though and ate all the leftovers on Sunday. Everything was delicious! The kids swam until they were turning into prunes and they had a blast running around the golf course on the evening of the 4th and watching fireworks over the water. Another successful holiday in the books!
