While G and Deeda were in town, we headed to NAS to go the Naval Museum. Everyone had a great time, and now I have two little fighter pilots constantly flying around my house “blowing up the bad guys!”

32 degrees
In line with my last post, we had Coe’s birthday party at 32 degrees last weekend. He was so excited 1) to have a Power Ranger party and 2) to get as many toppings as he wanted from the frozen yogurt bar. He loved all his presents, but the one thing he hasn’t put down since the party are the $4.99 cake toppers pictured below. By far his favorite gift. If I had only known I could have saved a lot of money!
With Mac’s over the top personality, Copeland is rarely the center of attention in large gatherings. I think he enjoyed all the focus being on him this one day. He never stopped smiling!
***Side note – 3yr old birthday party with 5 friends (including cousins and siblings) was the perfect amount. No need for the over the top dinosaur water party we had when Mac turned 3. Trust me both boys had an equal amount of fun, yet the work load was way less for this one. Why am I not surprised? With the exception of potty training, most things with Copeland have been a little more laid back and easy :)

He’s {almost} 3!
I have several blog posts in the works and decided I needed to get at least one finished today. I mean, Coe has been 3 (in his eyes at least) for almost a week, and I haven’t posted any pictures of my new big boy!
Yes, I know Coe’s birthday is March 11. I’m not “that mom” who forgot when her son was born. Instead I'm a practical mom who wants needs her son to get potty trained. We leave for our Disney Cruise on March 16, and in order for Coe to go to the kids camp he has to be 3 and potty trained. I fully admit its my fault for booking the trip 5 days after his {real} 3rd birthday thereby putting pressure on me and him to speed up the potty training process. I had no idea his adamant refusal to pee pee in the potty would last as long as it has. For awhile he has told us that he wasn’t doing it until he turned 3…so Coe turned 3 on February 16 - at least that is when we celebrated!
For kids a birthday occurs the day of the birthday party. They don’t care what day it is on the calendar. In my defense celebrating his birthday early logistically worked out better for several reasons. Yes, one was the hope that he would agree to try potty training a little early, but I also knew that having a birthday party days before we leave for a week vacation wasn’t going to be easy either. Plus my in-laws were already going to be in town Valentine’s weekend for Grandparents day at Mac’s school, and it made no sense to ask them to come back a few short weeks later for the birthday party. There I justified it and I’m not talking about it anymore!
Coe is thrilled to be 3 and since I’m writing this post 5 days after his birthday, I can also say he has used the potty 4 times since turning 3 {that is 4 times more than he had ever used the potty before he turned 3}.
I’ll admit it was very hard for me to go in his room on February 16 and say Happy Birthday, but I did it. I’m pretty sure we will all have a cupcake for dessert on March 11, so at least I can celebrate my favorite blonde headed baby boy. I’m holding on to the last few weeks of having a 2 year old even if he is full blown into being 3!
