We headed to Weiss Lake again this year at what has become an annual trip to Aunt Heather and Uncle Shaw’s lake house. Each year I get nervous before the trip about unrealistic things – like Coe getting up in the middle of the night, sneaking out of the house and falling in the lake – and about realistic things - like the boys being way younger than all the other kids and therefore driving everyone crazy! Thankfully none of my unrealistic fears came true. As for the more realistic ones…well lets just say I think everyone was excited when we got there and excited when it was time for us to leave!
Seriously, the boys weren’t bad, but they are a lot younger and can’t do as much (including behave as well) as their cousins. Thankfully my nieces, and their cousins from the other side of the family, went out of their way to play with the boys and make sure they had a great time. The boys were not disappointed!
I was serious about the rule that Copeland was not allowed on the boat dock without a life jacket. {Even when he was eating breakfast in his pjs he had to wear his life jacket!} These pictures were actually taken on day 2 when Coe was a little more accustomed to the rule. I got some a lot of resistance on day 1 when I told him he had to wear the life jacket. Shaw backed me up and Coe quickly announced, “I don’t like him, and I’m never gonna play with him. Never. Ever.” He changed his tune when he realized Uncle Shaw was generally the boat captain!
It rained so much on day 1 that we hardly got out on the lake. We spent a lot of time playing games and wishing the rain away. We finally ventured out for a quick paddle board and jet ski ride when the rain stopped for about 20 minutes. I loved the paddle board, but Coe preferred the “blue boat”.
Not so happy about the life jacket.
Since we couldn’t spend much time on the water that first day, Madeline and Mallory took the kids to feed the horses on a nearby property. One guess as to who LOVED that activity.
The next morning was just as overcast, but at least the rain let up a few times. We got out on the lake and finally got to ride in the “big boat”. Copeland was definitely a fan of boat rides, while Mac once again enjoyed a ride on the poparrazi as long as Poppy didn’t go too crazy. At one point he told Poppy, “I said not so fast and stop all that zig zagging!”
More pictures to come as soon as I find a few minutes to sit down at the computer again!
